Google offers a free transliteration tool, that lets you type in your native language. It supports 22 Indian languages including Arabic. With this tool you can easily update your status, preparing documents, emails and so on in your mother tongue. The main advantage of this tool is it doesn’t need an internet connection and it suggests for spellings while typing.

Google Transliteration IME is available for 22 different languages - Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi (Persian), Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Sinhalese, Tamil, Telugu, Tigrinya and Urdu.
The Google Transliteration IME application works only on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP for both 32-bit and 64-bit. Users can type a word the way it sounds using Latin characters and Google Transliteration IME will convert the word to its native script. Transliteration means that the sound of the words that is converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning. Converted content will always be in Unicode.

Users can type a word the way it sounds using Latin characters and Google Transliteration IME will convert the word to its native script. Note that this is not the same as translation — it is the sound of the words that is converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning. Converted content will always be in Unicode. For example, typing “hamesha” transliterates into Hindi as: and typing “salaam” transliterates into Persian as: ”
Installation & Configuration:
Step 1: Select and Download Google Transliteration IME for your prefered language from http://www.google.com/ime/transliteration/
It might take sometime ……
Step 2 : Accept the License Agreement and Click Next
Step 3: Once it complete click finish button and then the close the button as below two screen shots.
Step 4: I have enabled Google Transliteration IME for Notepad by just right click on the Notepad and then clicking by “Open IME” as below screen
Step 5: To disble for Notepad just right click and click “Close IME” as below screen .You can also toggle between English and Indian languages by clicking the IME language button in status window or using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+G or F12.
